Mesothelioma Asbestos

What is Mesothelioma Asbestos?

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Asbestos is a naturally-occurring fiber, that, when released into the air, can be inhaled or swallowed. Asbestos has no smell or taste, and asbestos fibers are so tiny that they are not visible to the naked eye. Asbestos fibers can stick in the lung, abdomen and other body tissues and over time, lead to the development of asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma.

The generic name "asbestos" belongs to a group of minerals called "asbestiform" minerals. Asbestos is a fibrous material which is mined from serpentine rock. Basically, rock was mined and crushed. When the rock was crushed, fibrous stands of asbestos were extracted from the rock. The strands where put in bags and shipped to manufacturing facilities were the asbestos was used as an ingredient in insulation and other materials. The three most commonly used forms of asbestos in product manufacturing were chrysotile, amosite and crocidolite.

Mesothelioma Treatment!

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a new mesothelioma treatment based on the theory that single celled organisms die when exposed to certain frequency of light. Photosensitive drugs are administered intravenously. In a couple of days, the drug concentrates on the diseased cell and kills it. Skin sensitivity, nausea and vomiting can be some of the side effects.

Immunotherapy(biological therapy) is another new way to treat mesothelioma. Immunotherapy will try to rejuvenate the immune system and there by improving the natural immune system which is the most effective way to fight any disease. The therapy also repairs the immune systems that are faulty. Biological response modifiers (BRMs) are the substances used in immunotherapy. BRMs naturally develop in the body but it can now be prepared in laboratory and is found to give the same effect as the natural ones.

Treatments with the combinations of surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy, are being researched studied. Heated intraoperative intraperitoneal chemotherapy and use of pemetrexed drug, brand named Alimta, are some of the new developments in the treatment of mesothelioma.

Spanish Schools In Spain Can Be Very Different For Students Arriving From Abroad, So Be Prepared

Spanish schools teach their pupils in Spanish, and those wishing for the lessons to be taught in English will have to seek out what is known as an international school. These international schools, and there are quite a few, are designed to mimic for the most part American schools for Americans and other English speaking students.

Compulsory age for beginning school in Spain is six years old. A primary school is dedicated to the education of all students for the initial eight years. At the age of fourteen, students either enroll in a secondary education school or move on to trade school. This is determined by the students grades throughout their primary education. Students who have completed the initial eight years of their education receive a certificate much like what Americans would call a high school diploma.

In the secondary years, academic students continue their education in the formal setting that can be equated to American High Schools while the trade inclined students learn skill sets that are more appropriately termed as a Vo-tech school in the United States. There are distinct advantages and disadvantages to this type of system.

Prior to attending any school in Spain, students must go through an interview process. Any student coming into the country is going to be required to show proof of numerous things, including their previous educational experience. All of the preparations for entering a Spanish school from outside the country should be taken care of prior to arrival to avoid unnecessary and costly delays. Parents will have to prove residency, previous education, immunizations, identification, and provide a photograph of the child for school identification passes.

School schedules vary greatly. They can range anywhere from a typical American school day with classes beginning between 8:00 or 9:00 in the morning and concluding around 3:00 or 4:00 in the afternoon. Other schools allow a two hour lunch with the option of returning home for this break but may run as late as 5:00 in the evening. Parents interested in sending their child to a Spanish school should double check the schedule before committing to any school. American children may have a difficult time adjusting to the extended schedules of some schools.

Drop Shotting In Depth

Drop-shotting has been touted as one of the hottest "new" techniques around, but it has been around since the mid 1970s. Drop-shotting has been revived in the last 5 years by Japanese anglers, who started using this technique to catch the bass in their clear, highly pressured lakes, but saltwater anglers, and pan-fisherman have been using this technique for many years to catch finicky fish suspended off the bottom. In the past few years, tournament anglers have adopted this technique to put hard to catch fish into the boat. It is an excellent technique for catching deep bass, and bass that are highly pressured in many of the tournament waters all over the US. The techniques that are used today have been refined, but the basic technique has remained the same for 30 years.

BASIC TECHNIQUE

The most simple explanation of this technique is that drop-shotting is a vertical presentation using light line, over top of fairly snag free structures.

A sinker is tied to the line, which is usually 8-12 pound test, and a hook is tied on the line, about 1-3 feet above the weight. A soft plastic bait is usually nose hooked, and the rig is lowered to the depth of the fish. Most anglers use their electronics to locate the structure, baitfish, and bass, and the rig is brought into the area where the strikes are suspected. The baits action is controlled by a slight shaking, or gentle twitching of the rod tip.

This is a very simple explanation, but drop-shotting can be much more refined and more complicated.

The types of hooks used for this technique vary greatly with each individual anglers preference. There are many anglers out there today that prefer the short shanked style of hooks for drop-shotting. These are called "Octopus" hooks. Many times these hooks are colored red, which many anglers believe bass see as a wounded bait. There are also many companies who manufacture pre-rigged drop-shot rigs, so you don't have to waste a lot of time tying them when you get on the water. Others prefer to tie the rigs themselves, but this is something that most do ahead of time, so they can save valuable time on the water for fishing.

Most bass fisherman, myself included, prefer a straight shanked hook, because in places where there is current, these styles resist some of the line twisting that occurs in these situations. I like to use a ball-bearing swivel myself, which prevents most of the line twisting that can occur. I tie on a swivel as a connection between the line and leader. I always use a black swivel for this and other techniques in clearer water, as I believe it doesn't spook wary bass. I also use the smallest swivel I can get away with. I use a Superline for these techniques also, as I believe it aids in detecting subtle strikes in deeper water. I like a braided line such as "Spiderline" for this. I always use the "Spiderline" in stained water, but at places like Table Rock Lake in Missouri, and some other clear water areas around the country, I use a Fluorocarbon line, as the braids are easier for the bass to see. In most of the clear, deep, highland reservoirs that we fish, this is very important. Also, by using a fluorocarbon line, I can go up in size to a higher pound test without the bass being able to detect it.

This type of fishing is really a "Finesse" technique, a term which has been abused in recent years by many anglers. If you aren't delivering a small bait, on light line, in fairly deep water, then I don't really consider it finesse fishing.

WEIGHTS

You can use almost any kind of sinker for this technique, but I really like to use the "quick release" style of weights. If the conditions on the water change, such as the wind picking up, the current increasing, or if you move to deeper water, you can quickly change to a heavier weight without having to retie. Some examples of this type of weight are the Duel Quick Change Lead Sinker, and the Zappu. These rigs are specifically tailored for drop-shotting techniques. Another really good type sinker that we found recently, is the Bakudan. This weight is ball shaped, as has a swivel-like line tie that reduces line twist.

Line twist can sometimes be a problem with these rigs in wind, or deep water situations, and anything that helps reduce this is a definite plus. This type of weight also has something the others don't. It has a line clip that lets you change the distance between the lure and the weight, without having to retie. Another method for changing the sinker quickly is to simply tie a loop at the end of the drop-shot leader using an overhand surgeon's loop. To properly fish this, and other rigs, a knowledge of many different knots is recommended. Practice tying these knots in the off season, and it will increase the time you spend fishing, instead of tying.

Another technique for drop-shotting, is to tie a regular bass jig, (usually a 1/4 to 3/4 of an ounce), at the leader end instead of the lead weight. With a surgeon's loop, different weight jigs can be changed quickly. Sometimes, the bass will hit the jig while you are using the drop-shot rig in your usual areas. Some anglers like to use a "pinch-on" split shot also. You can also thread a bullet weight on the drop-shot leader, below the hook and lure, with a split shot squeezed on below the bullet weight to hold it in place. More weight can easily be added to this rig quickly, and you can spend more time fishing.

TYING THE HOOKS

Tying the hooks on drop-shots is a refined technique, and can be done a couple of ways. I always use a Palomar knot, beginning the knot on the hook point side. This is done before tying the rig on the sinker. This is done so that the hook lays at a right angle to the leader. This is a better way to get a good hookset on light biters. Another way can be to take the leader end, after the Palomar is tied, and thread it back through the hook eye, then attach the rig lead. This way the hook shank lays against the line, which I believe, improves hookups.

PLASTIC BAITS

I like to use a variety of soft plastics on these rigs, but most of the time, I use a small 4" finesse worm, or a Yamamoto "Senko," in the 4 inch size. Another good choice is the French Fry worm, and other types of hand poured plastic baits, such as a Roboworm. A small tube can also be effective, as can a Yamamoto spider grub. This is only one of many great finesse fishing techniques that produce bass when they are deep, or highly pressured. Learning the many different techniques available today, will help you put more bass into the boat when they are hard to catch.

Ancient Practices For Helping Premature Ejaculation

What Your Children Don't Know Could Kill Them

The word asbestos comes from the ancient Greek meaning indestructible or inextinguishable. It is strong, flexible, water and heat resistant, cheap and easy to use. With this top qualities, asbestos was seen over 100 years ago as the exemplary building material. As a consequence, over 30 million tons of asbestos was utilized in the last century in the construction of factories, office buildings, schools, shipyards, homes. Very often asbestos was used as insulation and fireproofing on industrial equipment such as boilers and turbines, and placed on millions of miles of piping.

The real truth is asbestos was everywhere in our life. Even everyday items such as toasters, ironing boards, dryers, and low-density insulation products contained this wonder material.

After 1940 many scientific studies suggested a correlation between asbestos exposure and cancer. In 1955, scientists confirmed what had long been suspected: a direct link between inhalation or/and ingestion of asbestos fibers and the development of mesothelioma, a fatal form of lung cancer. It was the end of asbestos revolution. A very severe legislation interdicted handling and manufacturing asbestos without a special protection. Later the use and production of asbestos has been forbidden in US and old 15 members of European Union.

Why asbestos is so dangerous? Because it is indestructible. Tiny fibers inhaled are not soluble in lymph or stomach enzymes. So they cannot be eliminate by urine, sweating or so on. They remain in human body, creating accumulation of harmful particles. It is still unknown how asbestos leads in mesothelioma, but the correlation between asbestos and mesothelioma is certain.

Despite of severe law, asbestos is still part of our environment. If your home is older than 30 years you may suspect the asbestos presence. If your car is older than 25 years you may have asbestos in brake and clutch system. You must be aware and you must tell this things to children and youngs.

Just try to imagine: a few children on their way back from school watch the demolishing of a building from the 1950s-1960s. A giant bulldozer fight against the ground flour. For a short moment, huge quantities of asbestos fibers become airborne. And your child is there because nobody told him.

Know More About Designer Luggage

The following article is about designer luggage, which many people still do not familiar with all the aspects of them. The advice suggests below may be suitable for you who are looking for kind of all-in-one luggage that can serve any purposes. Most of this information comes straight from experience of designer luggage experts. Careful reading to the end virtually guarantees that you'll know what they know.

The terms designer luggage ma be new as someone may have never heard about it. Designer luggage is simply luggage that we use in every day life, particularly for travel purpose. The only thing that make designer luggage slightly different from ordinary type of luggage is designer luggage is a kind of very stylish design and fancy colour and you can differentiate between them when you shop around in a department stores. The reason why there should be designer luggage is because sometimes, travelers found that they could not find proper size and design that fit to their travel style. So they probably look for designer luggage that suit to every style of travel so you can make sure that you have kind of all-in-one luggage.

As mentioned above that designer luggage is pretty much the same as ordinary travel luggage but different in designs. So there are millions of colour and designs as well as materials that they are made from. Also you may be able to use the knowledge what you have learnt about how to choose ordinary travel luggage when you choose designer luggage. The most common type of materials that popular for designer luggage is leather, canvas, nylon, which they are light and durable.

As because the price of designer luggage may be a bit higher than ordinary travel luggage because they generally sturdier and more stylish and there are many brands available in the market. However, it is strongly suggest that you should not rely on only one or two brands when you are choosing, but you have to compare price and quality between many brands to make sure that you will get only the one that worth for you time and money. It is quite true that price is a good indicator to tell the quality of luggage but do not look at only the price but consider base on functions and designs as well. There is one aspect that commonly found among travellers who buy a large set of luggage, which consist of many of luggage in a set but they actually use only one or two of them and leave the rest in a cupboard.

This behaviour is quite a kind of wasting your money. The suggestion is do not buy a set of luggage that you think you may not be able to use them all. Instead, you have alternative to buy additional designer luggage only when you want. For example, if you want a small bag for your shoes, then you only buy a shoes bag. Also, if you want something to contain your clothes you may buy a garment bag. This is more practical than buy a set of luggage that generally has few standard size luggages and could not serve all purposes.

Those who only know one or two facts about designer luggage can be confused by misleading information hut not what I have described above. The best way to help those who are misled is to gently correct them with the truths you're learning.

Why a Good-Quality Photo Should Accompany Your Articles

I'm betting that that 3 out of 4 of you who are reading this don't have a good-quality photo that you could give the media if a reporter called you today.

I check the EzineArticles.com website at least once a week, looking for articles for The Publicity Hound, my subscription newsletter on how to generate free publicity. When I find an article my readers would like, I email the writer and ask for a photo. More times than not, I'm disappointed. Three out of four people have poor-quality photos or none at all.

Writing articles to position yourself as an expert in your field, sell more products and services and pull traffic to your website is admirable. But don't stop there. You need a good-quality above-the-shoulders photo for publishers like me who want to use it online or offline and give you lots of free publicity.

If you're among the 3 out of 4 who don't have one, stop being a media mutt and start acting like a true Publicity Hound. Here are tips on how to get an inexpensive, good-quality photo.

Use a professional photographer

If your cousin has a new digital camera, or a cell phone with a camera, and offers to take your photo to save you money, use a professional instead. Trust me, the expense will be well worth it.

Many of the bad-quality photos I see are too dark, out of focus, grainy, scanned incorrectly, or taken against a busy backdrop--often by amateur photographers. I've seen photos that look as though people have plants growing out of the tops of their heads. One writer gave me a photo that shows him with his eyes closed. A woman gave me a photo of her in a sleeveless blouse, with her bra strap showing.

Some people offer snapshots that show them with friends and family members. Most editors won't bother cropping out babies, husbands or friends. They just won't use your photo.

A standard, above-the-shoulders color photo is the bare minimum. Prices vary from market to market, but you can usually get a professional business portrait for less than $75 from a professional photographer.

To find a photographer in your price range, start with the Yellow Pages. Or ask people you know for recommendations. Even photo studios at places like Sears and J.C. Penney can often produce inexpensive photos that are better than the ones taken by your cousin.

Tips for looking your best

Here are tips to follow if you're having your portrait taken:

--Wear your usual hairstyle. Don't try anything new.

--Make sure your hair is styled the way you want it before you arrive at the studio.

--If you need a haircut, have it done one or two weeks before your photo session.

--Wear clothing appropriate to your profession. If you're a gardener, don't have your photo taken in a suit and tie.

--Avoid high-neck clothing that obscures your neck.

--Avoid sleeveless clothing.

--It's risky to wear prints that draw attention away from your face. When in doubt, be safe with solids (but not black or white).

--When applying make-up, pay special attention to your eyes. That's what people see first.

--Eye shadow adds depth. Avoid iridescent colors. Stick to neutral.

--If you wear glasses, ask your optometrist if you can borrow a pair without lenses. That way there won't be any glare.

--Powder reduces shine and helps eliminate shiny foreheads and noses.

--Be sure to tell your photographer the photos are for publicity so he knows what kind of backdrop to use. And tell him not to use a "soft focus" lense. Your photo should have sharp tones with good contrast.

--Don't have your photo taken when you have a dark suntan or it will look like your face is oily.

--Don't forget to smile! If you don't, you might come off looking bored or sad.

When I have my photo taken every two or three years, I splurge for a hair and make-up artist who primps me until I look my best, then stays with me during the entire photo shoot. Her fee is about $150, and the results are worth every penny. But you don't need to spend that kind of money if you don't have it. Just follow the tips above and you'll be fine.

Pay for as many shots as you can afford so you have a good selection of images from which to choose. Also, ask the photographer if the photo shoot can include one or two wardrobe changes.

In addition to the head shot, you might also consider a storytelling photo that shows you with "props" related to your event. A toy train collector who will be featured at a train show, for example, might be photographed behind his model train display. Weekly newspapers that don't have photo staffs would welcome these types of photos.

Ordering your photos

Most print and online publications use electronic photos, but some don't. So you should have several wallet-size photos and at least one 4-by-5 print on hand just in case someone asks for it. If you're mailing prints, attach a label to the back of the photo. It should include your name, address, phone number, email address and the year the photo was taken.

Never write on the backs of photos with a pen or felt-tip marker. If you are mailing more than one photo, slip a blank piece of paper between them. Sometimes the pressure of the post office's mailing equipment can cause the back of one picture to rub off onto the front of another.

I advise Publicity Hounds that when sending prints to publications, don't ask editors to return them. It makes you look cheap. Besides, you want to encourage them to keep the photos in their files for use months or even years later.

Make electronic versions available

If you're posting your photo to your website, you can scan it at 72 dots per inch and it will look fine.

But editors who want to use the photos in print publications will need the photo scanned at 300 dots per inch, at the size they want to use the photo or larger. That means you can't take a thumbnail-size headshot, scan it at 300 dots per inch and offer it to an editor who wants to use it at 2-by-3 inches. That editor needs at least a 2-by-3 photo scanned at 300 dpi. So make several sizes available. I make four sizes available scanned at 300 dots per inch. You can see how I offer it to editors by clicking here.

For most flexibility, offer a 4-by-5, color jpg scanned at 300 dpi. Any professional editor or publisher will be able to work with that. Some may use it in black and white, some may make it smaller, and some may lower the resolution.

I suggest you include your photos under a "Media Room" button on your home page so it's easy for editors to find what they're looking for.

And remember to smile!
